Weather can change rapidly, and when you’re traveling 400 or more miles a day you could experience several different weather scenarios during your time on duty.

You can easily keep tabs on the weather with the help of free weather apps available for your phone. These apps will help you stay in the know regardless of where you’re traveling.

All three of these apps are available for free on Android and Apple devices.

1. NOAA Weather Radar and Forecast

This free app uses real-time animated weather radar images and real-time weather conditions. It gives you the current and “Feels Like” temperatures, the chance of precipitation and humidity, pressure changes, wind information and more. It offers short and long-term weather forecasts for any location. You can customize the app and choose the information you want to see.

2. FEMA

The free official app of the Federal Emergency Management Agency provides updated weather alerts straight from the U.S. National Weather Service. It offers advice on what to do before, during and after disaster strikes, with information available for over 20 types of disasters.

3. The Weather Channel

Is there a more trusted name in weather news nationally than The Weather Channel? The channel’s free app has a home screen that changes based on your location, the weather and the time of day so you’re always getting the most accurate information. It offers hourly, 15-day and weekend forecasts plus weather maps, severe weather alerts, breaking news alerts, lightning alerts, rain and snow alerts, and pollen alerts.
