Out Of Service LogoThe Nebraska State Patrol and Omaha Police Department conducted surprise commercial vehicle inspections Wednesday, May 17, in Omaha. The inspections targeted trucks that might not travel outside the city or pass through weigh stations on their regular routes.

During the special enforcement effort 67 inspections discovered 198 violations; 30 vehicles were placed out of service. Five drivers were taken out of service for having no driver’s license (1), no CDL (2), improper class of CDL (1) and driving during suspension (1).  Officers issued a total of $3,950 in fines.

“While most truck owners and operators share our concern for safety, we know some think they can ignore safety standards as long as they avoid the weigh stations,” said Colonel Brad Rice, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol.
