ABF Freight driver wins champion title in Connecticut

ABF Freight driver Tony Spero won first place in the tanker category and had the highest written test score at the 2017 Connecticut Truck Driving Championships June 10 at the FedEx Freight facility in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Spero was named the event’s grand champion.

Company Award (highest average score): FedEx Freight

Bob Toce Award (highest score in 4-axle): David Bryant, FedEx  Freight

Rookie of the Year: Derrick Belin, All Waste

Benjamin Mongilio Award (highest written test score): Tony Spero, ABF Freight

Pre-Trip Award: John Sanchez, FedEx Express

Step Van: Glen Cooke, FedEx Express

Straight Truck: Derrick Belin, All Waste

3-Axle: Ernie Budlowski, XPO Logistics

4-Axle: David Bryant, FedEx Freight

5-Axle: David Buonocore, Bozzuto’s

Flatbed: Paul Brandon, FedEx Freight

Sleeper: Mar McClure, Domino’s SCC CT
