Arizona cops say trucker accidentally shot himself

Law enforcement officials say the truck driver who reported being shot while driving on I-10 in Arizona last week actually had shot himself accidentally.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety posted on its Facebook page this statement:

“During an investigative interview with the commercial truck driver, he admitted to state detectives, that he accidentally shot himself within the cab of the commercial truck and falsely reported having been the victim of a shooting. The investigation remains open.”

It was originally reported Friday, June 2 by numerous media outlets that the driver had been shot while driving on I-10 at North Verrado Way in Buckeye.

The driver’s name has still not been released.
