It’s time for the annual migration of Huskies back to the land of their birth, the city of Cortland in Central New York.
The 16th annual National Brockway Truck Show convenes Aug. 6-9 where these rugged trucks were manufactured up until 1977.
2014’s parade of Brockways at the national show in Cortland, NY.Last year’s event attracted 118 trucks and organizers expect at least that many this year. Most of the show’s events occur at Central New York Living History Center, which includes a large Brockway display, but the big day is Saturday when trucks are on display in downtown Cortland.
Here’s what’s happening during the four-day gathering:
Thursday, Aug. 6
You have to love any truck event that begins with a cruise to get ice cream. The Brockway faithful do this at 6 p.m. as trucks start to arrive
Friday, Aug. 7
The show’s annual Huskie Drive begins at 11 a.m. from the museum and includes a stop for lunch. Back at the museum, there will be:
- 4:30 p.m. wine tasting
- 6:30 p.m. dinner
- 7:30 p.m. auction
- 9:30 p.m. fireworks
Saturday, Aug. 8
Trucks lineup at the museum at 7:30 a.m. and the parade into the city of Cortland starts at 8:30 a.m. Trucks are on display the rest of the day with awards handed out at 3 p.m. Many of the trucks depart after the awards are handed out, but there is a chicken BBQ at 5:30 p.m. at the museum.
Sunday, Aug. 9
Before dispersing for another year, Brockway fans gather for a pancake breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the museum.
