Celadon Trucking created an award to honor founder Steve Russell, who died last year. This award recognizes members of both the administrative staff and driver fleet. The first recipients were honored at a company gathering earlier this month.

The first 10 award recipients were:

  • David Barnes (Team driver- recently retired)
  • Linda Barnes (Team driver- recently retired)
  • Star Hall (OTR driver)
  • Mark Cavanagh (OTR driver)
  • Danny Garman (Dedicated driver)
  • Handy King (Flatbed driver)
  • John Martin (Driver trainer)
  • Julie Anderson (Finance department)
  • Janene Morris (Recruiting department)
  • Brian Evans (Owner operator)

“Steve Russell built this company on hard work, strategic partnerships and good business decisions,” said Paul Will, Celadon’s Chairman and CEO.  â€śThis honor recognizes drivers and other team members who possess these attributes.  Celadon still holds these values today as we continue to grow as a company, and it’s only fitting that we created the Steve Russell Award to honor Steve.”

The 10 honorees were nominated for the award by their supervisors and later voted on by their peers. Each award winner received a hand-thrown, celadon-glazed plate, which replicates the jade green Chinese pottery for which the company was named.
