Association and CargoNet seek to cut cargo theft in Florida

Cargo theft hot spots

The Florida Trucking Association and CargoNet are working together to create awareness of and marshal resources to combat the theft of cargo from trucks in that state.

Their goal, according to a news release from the association, is to “… help members reduce cargo theft risk and lobby for stricter penalties and more public resources.”

CargoNet will assist the FTA to collect and analyze cargo theft data to aid law enforcement agencies with cargo recovery and identify trends.

The news release states:

“Both organizations are optimistic this strategy will help them communicate to legislators the need for more resources, such as more law enforcement officers in the state of Florida dedicated to cargo theft. Additionally, these collection efforts are essential to assist in their commitments to lobby for stricter cargo theft penalties.”

“The state of Florida has been a hot spot for cargo theft for some time now,” said FTA President and CEO Ken Armstrong. “Our members have given us a call to action, and we aim to rise to the occasion. Aligning with CargoNet allows us to do just that.”

Special member pricing will be available to FTA members that wish to use CargoNet.
