Temperatures are up across the United States, and the opinions are in: This summer is a scorcher.

Even if you take precautions to stay hydrated, the overwhelming heat across the nation can still be harmful for your health. One potential health consequence is heatstroke, which is not to be confused with stroke.

Heatstroke occurs when an individual’s body temperature surpasses 104 degrees, where as stroke occurs when there’s a clot or bursts in the blood vessels leading to the brain. This infographic from the American Heart Association breaks down how the two are different.
