The driver of this truck died Tuesday morning when it crashed on I-555 in Arkansas. (Jonesboro Police photo)The driver of a tractor-trailer that struck a bridge on I-555 in Jonesboro, Arkansas this morning is dead and the condition of the bridge is in question.
The victim has been identified as Jackie Becker, 57, of Jonesboro. Jonesboro Police say Becker’s truck was northbound on I-555 when it struck a bridge support for the Harrisburg Road overpass at about 8:30 a.m. Police say the truck burst into flames and several explosions were reported.
The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is inspecting the bridge, and will determine what repairs are needed.
The southbound lanes of I-555 are open, but the northbound lanes are expected to be closed for several days. Harrisburg Road is expected to be closed indefinitely.
