The kids kicked me out of the house one night told me I needed to find a boyfriend. So I went to a bar where a friend was working.

There were six guys and one stood out; he was dirty, stinky and looked like a trucker. So I bought him a beer.

Well, next thing you know he followed me home for a shower. I fooled him: I picked the lock to offer to wash his back. Well, after 21 years I’m still washing his back.

Me and daddy ran team for 11 years. Two years ago he got real sick; diabetic you know. He’s now in a wheelchair (as) he lost his left leg.

But, I’m the owner/op now. I go out, run the truck and he sits at home and waits for me to come home. We can’t get a lot of time together but we call a lot on the phone for hours at a time.

He helps me make my runs if I get tried by talking to him. I don’t know what I’d do with out him.

But, we know his time is going to be short so all we can do is love each other like the first night we met.

We’ve seen a lot of hard times, but old truckers don’t die, we catch more gears and love all the way.
