Averitt offering free gas, free Ford F-150 for fuel conservation
Averitt Express will be giving away 20 $500 gas cards and one fully-loaded 2010 Ford F150 to some Averitt drivers as part of its Fuel Duel program. The drivers have been grouped into teams for scorekeeping.
The teams must collectively improve their fuel mileage over a six-month period, using the same six-month period from last year as their benchmark, by reducing truck idling, using smooth-shifting techniques, traveling at slower speeds and maintaining proper tire pressure. All drivers who improve their fuel mileage will be entered into the drawing for the gas cards and the truck.
