FMCSA shuts down Colorado trucking company

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has ordered an Aurora, Colo.-based trucking company to shut down immediately.

In a statement today, the FMCSA said Sorbon Transport, Inc., is an imminent hazard to public safety and ordered that it cease operations. The agency said a recent federal investigation uncovered a number of violations of critical safety regulations by the company.

FMCSA found the following violations during its investigation: failing to systematically inspect, repair, and maintain its commercial vehicles; failing to ensure that its drivers complied with hours-of-service regulations designed to prevent fatigue; and failing to ensure drivers were qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle.

Because of these violations, FMCSA directed Sorbon Transport to stop all commercial motor vehicle operations, including all interstate and intrastate transportation.
