GATS helps organize Louisiana flood victim assistance

When the Great American Trucking Show opens in Dallas next Thursday, attendees will have the opportunity to help Louisiana residents suffering losses because of the recent flooding. It’s estimated that 40,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed, and 70,000 residents have registered for federal emergency assistance.

This trailer will be used o deliver aid to Louisiana flooding victims. Look for it at GATS.

The show, along with several trucking-related businesses have joined forces to collect much needed supplies for victims of the storms that dropped 31 inches of rain in a 15-hour period in one location. Organizers are asking attendees to contribute:

  • canned goods
  • bottled water
  • personal hygiene items
  • cleaning supplies
  • clothing

Show organizers have contributed space for a truck and trailer donated by Cummins to serve as a collection point.
The Cummins truck and trailer will be located exhibitor parking lot; this is lot “E” behind the convention center. The lot entrance is on Memorial drive. Take Lamar next to the Omni hotel, turn right on Memorial and the lot will be on your left.

Others supporting the collection efforts include Diesel Spec Inc., Chrome and Steel Radio and Texomatic Pictures.

The storm is being called the worst U.S. natural disaster since Superstorm Sandy.
