Household goods mover helps fight hunger

A major Rhode Island moving and storage company is teaming up with a national non-profit hunger organization to help those in need.

Arpin Group and Move for Hunger are working together to help customers who are relocating donate food to local organizations that distribute it to people who may not have enough to eat.

Moving company helping clients donate food to those in need

The company encourages their agents across the country to collect non-perishable food items from their customers and deliver them to local food pantries. According to a statement from the company, Arpin Group agents have delivered some 115,000 pounds of food to local food pantries throughout the U.S. That equates to more than 95,000 meals.

“Moving can be a hectic and busy time for our customers, and their unopened food is usually the last thing on their mind,” said Matt Dolan, chief operating officer of Arpin Group. “If they don’t have the time to arrange for its donation, the food usually ends up in the trash. By partnering with Move for Hunger, we can now provide another convenient service to our customers while also feeding local families in need. Everybody wins.”

Here is how it works:

1) Arpin customers set aside their unopened non-perishable food items.

2) The Arpin moving crew will pack up the food on the day of the move and deliver it to a local food pantry.

3) Donations will be sorted and delivered to local families in need.

Hunger is a national problem that affects every community. It’s not always easy to see, but nearly 50 million Americans struggle to find their next meal,” said Adam Lowy, founder and executive director of Move for Hunger. “By partnering with socially conscious companies like Arpin Group, we can make a difference in the lives of others.”

The Arpin Group is the holding company of Arpin Van Lines, Arpin International Group, Creative Storage Solutions, Arpin Associates, Affiliated Transportation Systems and Arpin Renewable Energy. It’s headquartered in West Warwick, RI.
