J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., recently changed its detention pay policy, and added new trucks and trailers to its fleet.
The Lowell, Ark.-based company (seventh on the Commercial Carrier Journal’s Top 250 List) recently announced a new policy that requires detention pay after two hours at a customer at $15 per hour, up to 10 hours total. The policy became effective Sunday (May 31) for nearly 1,200 truckload drivers.
The company said driver requests prompted the change to the policy.
In addition, the truckload business unit recently added more than 800 new Freightliner Cascadia Evolution trucks to its fleet and plans to add 3,500 new Wabash trailers by the end of 2015.
“We are pleased to make these improvements for our drivers, all of which will contribute to our goal of enhancing the J.B Hunt experience,” said Steve Rogers, vice president of truckload. “These changes will continue to move our truckload unit in the right direction, as a thriving, successful division.”
