Landstar starts construction of new Texas facility

Landstar broke ground on a cross-border logistics facility in Laredo, Texas recently. The facility gives Landstar the opportunity to expand on its Mexico service offerings.

“As our cross-border operations have expanded, Landstar has outgrown its current facility in Laredo, Texas,” said Eric Meyer, Landstar’s transportation logistics executive vice president of operations. “The new facility, located int he heart of the Mines Road business district, will better serve Landstar’s customers, capacity and agents and put Landstar in a unique position to advance its cross-border operations.”

The new facility will have:

  • 31,000 square foot logisitics facility on a 50 acre site
  • 30-bay cross dock and transload facility
  • Dedicated and expanded heavy-haul section of the yard
  • 120 ton stand-alone bridge crane
  • Lounge and media center
