Fourteen locally-acquired Zika virus cases have been found in Florida, according to health officials in that state.
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) believes active transmissions of the virus are occurring only in one small area of Miami-Dade County, it was announced on Monday, Aug. 1.
This update follows last week’s confirmation that there were four confirmed cases of locally-acquired Zika virus in Florida. These 10 additional cases were identified through a door-to-door community survey that the Florida DOH is conducting.
In response to the virus, state officials requested assistance from the CDC.
