There was a time when America was the world’s leading steel producer, and Bethlehem Steel was a major player, turning out some 23 million tons a year in the 1950s. Matt Landis’ 1984 Mack DM886SX was once owned by the steelmaker. The truck was in the All Mack Show at Gerhart’s Machinery in Lititz, Pennsylvania, which is located about 70 miles from the Bethlehem home of the company that filed for bankruptcy in 2001.
