Matters of the Heart
February 1, 2010
| by: Misty Bell
Cardiovascular disease accounts for about one in every three deaths in the Unite
d States, according to the American Heart Association. More than 74 million Americans have high blood pressure. And these problems are thought to be closely connected with other diseases and disorders, like diabetes and sleep apnea. Altogether, it’s a laundry list of problems that can cause you to lose your CDL.
February is American Heart Month, as designated by the American Heart Association. Throughout the month, we will provide editorial coverage of heart-related issues here on the Fit for the Road site, everything from Q&As with survivors to articles about FMCSA’s heart-health guidelines to discussions with doctors who specialize in cardiovascular conditions.
If you have questions related to heart health, please send those to tneditors@rrpub.com, and we will attempt to answer them or have a doctor answer them, when possible.
