Moving association honors four with awards

The American Moving & Storage Association recently announced the winners of the 2016 Super Van Operator Awards, which recognizes the nation’s safest moving and storage company truck and van drivers. The honorees were recognized in a ceremony Feb. 28.

The winners are:

  • Lifetime Achievement: Robert Westfall of Dover, Tennessee. Westfall drives for Ted R. Sanders Moving and Warehouse, an Allied agent. He’s been driving since 1980 and has driven almost 2.8 million accident-free and moving violation-free miles. He won the Super Van Operator Award for Household Goods in 2010.
  • Household Goods: Christopher Loftus of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Loftus drives for Suddath Companies, a United Van Lines agent. He began driving in 1982 and has driven over 3 million accident-free and moving violation-free miles. He has received over 30 safe driving awards.
  • Special Commodities: Ronal Kappellusch of Lake Havasu, Arizona. He drives for Planes Moving and Storage, a United Van Lines agent. He began driving in 1977 and has driven over 3.5 million accident-free and moving violation-free miles. He has earned a safe driving award annually for 36 consecutive years.
  • Rookie of the Year: Daniel Lobbestael of Farwell, Michigan. Lobbestael drives for Morse Moving and Storage, an Allied agent. He began driving in 2013 and has driven over 134,000 accident-free and moving violation-free miles. He has been awarded twice with Allied’s Allied Master Mover honor and won Allied’s 2-Year Safe Driving Award.

“The American Moving & Storage Association congratulates these drivers for their outstanding records of success and excellent service to customers,” said Scott Michael, AMSA president and CEO. “Each of these drivers has shown their strong dedication to the highest level of safety for their customers and themselves. They are an inspiration to those of us within the industry and in their local communities.”
