Gunslinging rescue missions are the mark of a good western film, and the new to DVD feature “Bone Tomahawk” doesn’t disappoint.

In “Bone Tomahawk,” a team sets out to recapture a group of settlers kidnapped by cannibals. Actor Kurt Russell plays Sheriff Franklin Hunt, the group’s leader. The rescue mission doesn’t go smoothly, forcing the sheriff and his men to get gritty in the Old West.

Patrick Wilson of “Insidious,” Matthew Fox of “Lost” and Richard Jenkins of “The Cabin in the Woods” all star in this western thriller. Released in 2015, “Bone Tomahawk” has the feel of a classic western with the benefit of contemporary special effects.

Both the DVD and the Blu-Ray version of the film were released Dec. 28, and are available from most major retailers, including Amazon and WalMart.
