NY law mandates mirrors
July 25, 2011

A new law will require truck drivers traveling in New York City to mount front-end mirrors.
Beginning Jan. 18, 2012, trucks at least 26,000 pounds and base-plated in New York must have the mirrors when traveling through any of the city’s five boroughs. City agency trucks already use the mirrors.
More than 160 pedestrians were killed and 2,700 were injured in accidents in New York City involving trucks in a 10-year period ended in 2008, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
