Trucks in California will travel an eHighway in a test next summer.

There was a time when much of this country’s urban transit — trolley cars — were powered by overhead electric lines. Some cities still use them.

Guess what’s coming to trucking.

A two-mile demonstration project using overhead cables to power four electric trucks is slated to begin in California next July.

Siemens will install its eHighway system in Carson not far from Long Beach for the year-long project. The company is developing a demonstration vehicle with Volvo Group and Mack, as well as California truck integrators, whose vehicles will be included in the demonstration.

See what folks have to say about it.
