Pitt Ohio driver top trucker at Maryland championships

Over 80 drivers competed in the Maryland Truck Driving Championships June 3 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, but only one took home the grand champion trophy. Michael Miltenberger, a driver for Pitt Ohio Express, won the title for his second time.

Miltenberger and the seven other first place winners in each class, excluding mixer and dump, advance to the American Trucking Associations‘ National Truck Driving Championships in Orlando, Florida, Aug. 9-12. 

The winners, by category, were:

Team Champion: Giant of Maryland

Rookie of the Year: Kenneth Knopp, FedEx Freight

3-Axle: Lou Petrovia, XPO Logistics

4-Axle: Curtis Dennard, UPS Freight

5-Axle: Michael Miltenberger, Pitt Ohio Express

Flatbed: Richard Malozi, Rukert Terminals

Sleeper: Robert Warfield, Domino’s Pizza

Straight Truck: Jason Toothman, FedEx Freight

Tanker: Eugene Lloyd, Carroll Independent Fuel

Twins: Ryan Grybowski, UPS Chesapeake District

Mixer: Steve Maclawski, Chaney Enterprises

Dump: Steve Hagerman, Ross Contracting
