We can all agree on one thing.........ALL GPS devices are not the same and not perfect. A lot of it depends on the driver's needs as much as the device. While traveling with my new Magellan, my co-driver had a Garmin. Just for laughs, we put them side by side. As we came to an intersection, one said go left while the other said go right. We found the Magellan more accurate, but none of the devices are perfect. These devices help, but we are professional drivers, open your eyes and watch the signs and for hazards. The roads we travel change so much, no GPS could ever be updated enough.

SERIOUSLY guys! Dump the gps's with thier tiny screens! Nearly everybody has a laptop now. get a stand for it, and go to walmart and get microsoft streets and trips, the latest version with gps reciever (about $50 or so, it's actualy PC miler in disgiuse).Very detailed and 3D. and you can put in note flags, locations AND plot and save all trips for tax purposes. It's not truck specific, But it hasn't failed me yet. and you can tell the difference in road types so you don't route yourself the wrong way. Take a minute and set up your trip, then just follow the little red arrow. Did I mention it also tells direction and speed?

I had a WorldNav but took it back after a week. Price of junk. Bought a TND500 and loved it. When the TND700 came out I bought it. Love it. You can set it to show the road/highway you're currently on, or the road coming up, or the city-county your in. Need to find a truck stop, parking area, scale, place to shop? No problem! It is just full of features. So, who wants to buy my TND500?

The first Rand TND 500 we bought first of 2010 didn't work when we plugged it in either. We took it back and got our money back. Then a few days later at another truck stop we bought another one and it has worked great. We have to plug it in to our laptop to do updates but it's well worth the money. Makes it hard to see how we got around without it before.

@ Larry Helgeson. The TND 700 can be set up to let you know when a weight station, a state Border, or even a toll booth is coming up. You set it, 1 mile, 2 miles etc, when you want it to tell you(example, it will verbally tell you "you are one mile from state line" you can save a POI. It verbally tells you you have a upcoming turn a 1/2 mile 1/4 mile 50 feet until you finally turn as you get closer it continues to remind you it tell you what side of the street your target is on so you have time to make a lane change. You can change it to METRIC if you go to Canada or Mexico. You can set your speed limit alerts, (it will verbally warn you if you exceed the speed limit. It has a onboard drivers log. It has 3 different map views, one of which is 3D (a must use) This is well worth the money. it saves time and some frustration. Hope this bit of Info helps
