The trucking non-profit organization truckersfinalmile.org is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the investigation of an Illinois truck driver stabbed to death at the Mustardseed Truck Stop in Sumner, Washington last week.
The organization is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
The body of truck driver Piotr Pietrzykowski, age 52, was found around 5:34 a.m. on March 8. He’d been stabbed multiple times. Pietrzykowski was a driver for Top Line Express, based in Chicago. Truckersfinalmile.org founder Robert Palm said he first learned of the incident when the driver’s family contacted him for assistance in getting the driver’s body home.
There are no updates in the investigation to report at this time, according to the Sumner Police Department.
Pietrzykowski’s body has been released from the medical examiner’s office and Palm said they hope to have enough funds raised by the weekend to transport his body home to his family in Elgin, Illinois.
“We don’t want this to become a cold case. There’s no leads or assistance for the case. There are a lot of truckers who go to that truck stop and then they leave and they aren’t there for very long,” Palm said. He said he believes someone may have seen something without realizing at the time what they were witnessing.
Pietrzykowski is survived by his wife, his 8-year-old son, brothers and sisters and additional extended family, according the the truckersfinalmile.org Facebook page.
