Two men charged as accessories in the murder of trucker Jason Rivenburg were sentenced in a South Carolina court to 30 days in jail Aug. 30.

Jimmy Haygood, 21, and Willie Reed, 21, can serve the time on weekends. They also were assigned 100 hours of community service and five years probation.

On March 5, 2009, while waiting to make a delivery, New York-based truck driver Jason Rivenburg was murdered at an abandoned gas station and robbed of $7. Willie Pelzer, 22, was convicted of the murder and is serving a life sentence without parole.

Reed and Haygood testified against Pelzer at his trial.

Unbelievable these two thugs get a slap on the hand and serve weekends? If they are involved enough to be accessories then they should serve time, regardless of their ages! The beautiful little boy of the father murdered is left without a father because of these creeps. And what was the judge and jury thinking? If it was there son or grand child wouldn’t there be a harsher sentence? So what they testified against Pelzer. Big deal, they were still accessories, and as we all know that means, they had a hand in it, they made that decision. This happens far too frequently. An innocent trucker trying to make a living, taken away from their family because of thugs and thieves.
