Sentencings in Jason Rivenburg murder

| by: Truckers News Staff
Two men charged as accessories in the murder of trucker Jason Rivenburg were sentenced in a South Carolina court to 30 days in jail Aug. 30.
Jimmy Haygood, 21, and Willie Reed, 21, can serve the time on weekends. They also were assigned 100 hours of community service and five years probation.
On March 5, 2009, while waiting to make a delivery, New York-based truck driver Jason Rivenburg was murdered at an abandoned gas station and robbed of $7. Willie Pelzer, 22, was convicted of the murder and is serving a life sentence without parole.
Reed and Haygood testified against Pelzer at his trial.

that’s about a piss poor excuse.they testified against the other guy and all the get is a slap on the hand.they are just as guilty as the other man.why to go court system!!!!
Unbelievable these two thugs get a slap on the hand and serve weekends? If they are involved enough to be accessories then they should serve time, regardless of their ages! The beautiful little boy of the father murdered is left without a father because of these creeps. And what was the judge and jury thinking? If it was there son or grand child wouldn’t there be a harsher sentence? So what they testified against Pelzer. Big deal, they were still accessories, and as we all know that means, they had a hand in it, they made that decision. This happens far too frequently. An innocent trucker trying to make a living, taken away from their family because of thugs and thieves.
What kind of lack of judgement did that judge and jury have? The three of them are equally guilty irregardless of who pulled the trigger. They took a human life, they took away a father, and a husband. A slap on the wrist was wrong even if they did turn states evidence to save themselves. All three should be serving life without parole not just the one who pulled the trigger.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the grocery warehouse, law enforcement, and mothers against tired truckers need to look at this and understand that what happened to this young man can happen every day. Truckers are forced to find places to park because no one gives a damn about them, they are treated like scum. Virginia gives tickets for parking at the entrance or exits ramps shoulders, Arkansas doesn’t allow parking on the shoulders of highway ramps

Truckers are forced to find places to park because no one gives a damn about them, they are treated like scum. Virginia gives tickets for parking at the entrance or exits ramps shoulders, Arkansas doesn’t allow parking on the shoulders of highway ramps, North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and New York will even harass drivers in the rest area. This should of never happened these warehouses plan to accept so many trucks a day they should have parking for them, and people should realize this people are doing a job in all kinds of weather, they do what they said they where going to do get the product to the customer, so they can get it to you the consumer. Are lives and are families way of live shouldn’t pay a price.
