Time to let drivers put foot closer to the floor?

Is it time to reconsider our national speed limit?

It was just a bit more than 40 years ago that Americans were told to slow down to 55 mph.

Some of us even did.

Is it time to revisit that law? A lot has changed. Americans have gotten used to — though still complain about — higher fuel prices, and manufacturers of trucks have made considerable progress in helping us get as many mpg as we can out of their vehicles.

So, is it time to revisit 55 mph? Maybe edge it back up to 65 mph?

Our pals over at Overdrive asked readers the question, “Would you support a 65-mph national speed limit for all vehicles and mandatory governing of truck speed slightly higher?”

Not surprisingly folks had plenty to say. What say you?
