Truck drivers honored by Decker Truck Line

Six drivers for Decker Truck Lines were recently honored as drivers of the month. The honorees included:

Michael Rolland won for the Ft. Dodge/Ft. Wayne Reefer/Van Division. He was nominated by his fleet manager, Gary Northrop, who said, “Mike Rolland was a good company driver and now is an even better owner/operator. He goes anywhere, does anything. Mike answers the phone “Mike’s truck. You call, I haul.” He is a great guy to work with. Mike always takes care of the equipment and the customer’s.” Rolland has driven for Decker for four years.

Marlon Rogers and Nichole Weitz won for the Missoula Reefer/Van Division. They were nominated by their fleet manager, Alan Henderson, who said, “Awesome team! Marlon and Nicki are on the dedicated bread run and they go above and beyond.” Rogers and Weitz have driven with Decker for four years.

Derrick Potter won for the Ft. Dodge/Hammond Flatbed Division. He was nominated by his fleet manager, Sue Anderson, who said, “Derrick is a conscientious driver and a very hard worker. He will run anywhere we go. He delivers on time and will do whatever type of load that needs to be covered. Derrick likes to stay busy. He does a good job for Decker.” Potter has driven with Decker for three years.

Dennis Starr won for the Bessemer Flatbed Division. He was nominated by his fleet manager, Troy Rubel, who said, “I would describe Dennis as that fullback when it is fourth and goal with time running out and you need a touchdown to win. He is going to get the job done. He is also a very good communicator. He does the right things to benefit the team.” Starr has driven with Decker for eight months.

Bobby Rasco won for the LeMars Reefer/Van Division. He was nominated by his fleet manager, Paul Easton, who said, “Bobby is a great driver to have on the team. He’s always eager for miles and willing to help out on repowers. (He) makes the most of HOS and manages them professionally. A great communicator and al- ways leaves out on time.” Rasco has driven with Decker for two years.

In addition to winning a Decker gift certificate, each of these drivers will now be eligible to compete for driver/owner-operator of the year. This year-end recognition of one driver from each division brings a 1-cent-per-mile pay increase for twelve months.

Decker’s drivers of the month are selected based on overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment, payroll, billing and customer service.
