New ProStar ES is available for orders Dec. 15.

Navistar-International last week (Dec. 5) introduced a truck the company says is “the best fuel efficiency package in the industry.”

The ProStar ES (efficiency specification) bundles an aerodynamic body and a drivetrain that employs advanced downspeeding with fuel efficient rear axles — setting the truck apart from its namesake standard ProStar.

The ProStar ES is powered by the Eaton-Cummins SmartAdvantage powertrain, pairing the Cummins ISX15 and the Eaton-Fuller Advantage automated transmission.

The truck can also be spec’d with Navistar’s 13-liter N13 and the Eaton-Fuller Advantage automated transmission. And, both setups can be matched with either the Dana AdvanTek 40 6×4 axle, the Meritor 14X 6×4 axle or the Meritor FUELite 6×2 axle.

The truck will be available for order starting Dec. 15.

Navistar says the ProStar can get up to 11 percent greater fuel economy than the 2010 ProStar.
