Werner announces pay raises for solo van company drivers

Omaha-based Werner Enterprises (11th on Commercial Carrier Journal’s Top 250 ranking) today announced annual pay for its 48-state solo van company drivers increases by an average of $5,000 starting Jan. 1. Some 1,400 drivers will benefit from the raise.

This is Werner’s second announcement of pay raises this month. Effective Nov. 3, Werner announced the largest owner/operator per mile increase in company history. That raise equates to a total of an additional $10,000 in annual payments for all 48-state solo van owner/operators.

Werner also earlier announced additional owner operator dedicated opportunities, increases for owner/operator regional routes and special owner/operator interest rates for low mileage truck purchases.

“We consistently review compensation packages to see where improvements can and should be made,” said Derek Leathers, Werner’s president and COO. “Pay increases are one piece of our multi-faceted approach to attract and retain the best in the industry and make Werner the employer of choice.”
