On Monday, Nov. 11 Veterans Day, Covenant Transport announced the creation of a military hiring program to increase the number of professional drivers it hires who are military veterans.

“On a day when we honor our nations’ veterans, we couldn’t be prouder to announce our newest military program, Operation Victory,” said the company’s Senior Director of Recruiting Jason Rice. “As a veteran myself, I’m thrilled that we have built a program that credits proven driving experience from the military and honors their service to our country by providing these professionals with top pay.”

Veterans entering Covenant Transport’s highway services division with a military occupational specialty related to driving receive 100% of that time credited toward their truck driving experience in the determination of their respective compensation package. All other military occupational specialty jobs that are non-driving will be credited 50% toward a new truck driving career.  All veterans who have been generally or honorably discharged dating back a period of seven years are eligible for Operation Victory. This allows these veterans to begin a driving career at Covenant’s highway services division without having to repeat CDL training, according to the company.

“I’m excited about the growth of our highway services veterans program, where we want to become the veterans’ choice employer for driving careers,” said Chris Schoate, recruiting manager and an Army and Air Force veteran. “This is an important step in that journey.”

Covenant is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
