Duane Kottke, owner of trucking company, passes

Memorial services will be held later this week for a second generation owner of a longtime Minnesota trucking company.

Duane Kottke, 75, of Buffalo Lake, died Friday, Sept. 29, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. Mr. Kottke owned Kottke Trucking, a business started by his father, Elmer Kottke, in 1938.

Duane and his brother Donald took over the family business in 1961, according to a history posted on the company’s website.

A memorial service will be Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, with interment in the Buffalo Lake City Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, and will continue Thursday at 10 a.m. before the service, at church.
