FedEx Freight driver named New Mexico’s grand champion

The New Mexico Trucking Association named FedEx Freight driver Loretta Bruyere the grand champion of the New Mexico Truck Driving Championship. She also won first place in the Twin Trailers class.

Bruyere got her CDL in 2002 and started driving for FedEx in 2011. She began competing in the New Mexico trucking championship in 2012.

The annual competition was held May 19 in Albuquerque.

The winners were:

Grand Champion: Loretta Bruyere, FedEx Freight

Team Champions: Old Dominion Freight Line

Straight Truck: Kirk Weiss, ABF Freight

3-Axle: Celso Romero, FedEx Freight

4-Axle: James Parcell, FedEx Freight

5-Axle: Duane Oldfield, ABF Freight

Sleeper: Ralph Garcia, ABF Freight

Flatbed: Gerald Benavidez Sr., ABF Freight

Tanker: Carl Marquez, ABF Freight

Twin Trailers: Loretta Bruyere, FedEx Freight

Step Van: Chris Shaw, FedEx Express
