Serious about sleep? You may need this

Let’s face it, sleep is a big deal for truckers.

Combating driver fatigue is said to be behind hours of service regulations and the massively controversial mandated installation of electronic logging devices in most trucks. And, obstructive sleep apnea testing remains a topic of some concern.

That means, truckers may need to be just as serious about getting their rest, and that’s not as easy as it sounds because much of what they do is contrary to getting a good night’s — or day’s — sleep.

The Nokia Sleep may be what some drivers need. This is serious gear for drivers serious about their sleep; after all, it even scores how well you sleep.

This device-app combination costs $100, but might be worth it when you consider all it does. The pad goes underneath your mattress and collects sleep data while you lie on it. It tracks the amount of REM sleep you get and whether you snore. That gets uploads to an app on your smartphone and tells you how well you’ve slept.
