The bleat of an elk spooked this driver.
Quite a while ago when driving OTR I was in the Canadian Rockies and I hit an elk. My front end was a mess and I got out to try to straighten the headlight.
I had never heard an elk bleat before and the sound made every hair on my body stand up. Pitch black, lots of thrashing and that hideous sound made me want to be anywhere but here.
Yes, the doe elk died (I checked). However, that still didn’t calm my nerves.
