Twenty-three military veteran drivers from one of the nation’s largest trucking companies will be part of National Wreaths Across America Day Saturday.
It will be the third consecutive year that drivers from J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. will be part of efforts to deliver memorial wreaths to be laid on the graves of military veterans.
The J.B. Hunt trucks are hauling more than 50,000 wreaths on eight routes to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, Houston National Cemetery, and Fayetteville National Cemetery in Arkansas. In addition, more than 500 J.B. Hunt employees are expected to volunteer to place wreaths on the graves of veterans.
“As a former combat veteran, this was a great emotional and physical experience,” said Cheryl Slingland, a J.B. Hunt driver for Wreaths Across America. “Most of all, I am extremely grateful for everything I learned as well as the opportunity to work beside other experienced drivers to participate in this event.”
In addition to Saturday’s national event, J.B. Hunt drivers have also participated in local memorial ceremonies along their convoy routes for communities to remember those who served.
“Our commitment to hiring and supporting veterans is central to our culture at J.B. Hunt,” said John Roberts, president and CEO of J.B. Hunt. “In this season of giving, we proudly support Wreaths Across America and uphold its mission to remember, honor, and teach.”
