Truckers: 2024 was not a good year; however, 2025 may hold promise

A lot of truckers will bid "good riddance!" to 2024 when the clock strikes midnight tonight. At the same time, many say they will welcome 2025 with considerably more optimism, while still others see the new year as just more of the old one.

Those are the results of Truckers News' annual end of the year poll of driver sentiments.

We asked truckers to complete this: "For me, 2024 was ..."

  • 21.92% said, "My worst year yet as a trucker."
  • 21.32% said, "A below average year."
  • 21.02% said, "A decent year but not great."
  • 14.71% said, "An average year."
  • 13.51% said, "A very good year."
  • 5.11% said,  "My best year yet as a trucker."
  • 2.4% said, "Other."

We also asked them to complete this: "I expect 2025 to be ..."

  • 44.9% said, "A decent year, better than 2024."
  • 19.39% said, "Just a continuation of 2024."
  • 14.63% said, "A time to reconsider being a truckwr."
  • 8.84% said, "An especially good year."
  • 4.42% said, "My best year ever as a trucker."
  • 4.08% said, "Worse than 2024."
  • 3.74% said, "Other."
