Investigation continues into truck stop stabbing

Police continue to  investigate why a truck driver was stabbed to death in his truck at the Mustardseed Truck Stop off Highway 167 in Sumner, Washington earlier this week.

The driver was stabbed multiple times, according to news reports. The Sumner police believe his truck pulled in during the night. His body was discovered around 5:34 a.m. on Tuesday (March 8) morning.

Sumner Chief of Police Brad Moericke identified the victim as 52-year-old Piotr Pietrzykowski, a male from Illinois. He drove for Top Line Express, based in Chicago.

There have not been any further developments in the investigation at this time.

“Nothing new to date, still processing what we have,” Moericke said in an email. He encourages other drivers to always be vigilant and report suspicious circumstances.
