Sutton Transport this week announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase EF Express, an LTL provider located in Highland, Illinois.

EF Express has been a partner of Sutton Transport’s for several years providing service in southern Illinois and the St Louis metro area. The acquisition is set to close on June 30. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sutton Transport’s corporate objective is to expand its direct coverage to all major markets throughout the Midwest, according to a statement from the company. The acquisition of EF Express brings Sutton one step closer to accomplishing this goal.

EF Express will operate under the Sutton name and authority beginning July 1. Former owner, Brant Frey, will stay on board to continue running operations and help grow the business moving forward.

Sutton Transport is a family-owned business operating for more than 40 years, with eight terminals. The company is known for its regional less-than-truckload service but also offers nationwide volume LTL, truckload, and logistics services.

Based in Weston, Wisconsin, Sutton has 280 drivers and will gain 20 more with the acquisition of EF Express.
