45 vehicles and 16 drivers were placed out of service by Arizona inspectors

During a recent two-day “Operation Airbrake” safety detail as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliances’s Brake Safety Week, Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership (ACVSP) inspectors conducted 178 inspections and recorded 521 driver/vehicle examination report violations.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a total of 45 vehicles and 16 drivers were placed out of service, and one carrier received an out-of-service violation.

Inspections were conducted from Aug. 27-28 at rest areas along I-17 in Munds Park and McGuireville, and on I-40 in Parks.Inspectors looked for missing, damaged or defective parts and ensured warning systems and devices were working properly. Special emphasis was paid to the condition of brake lining and pads.

The ACVSP comprises AZDPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement troopers assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau and Arizona Department of Transportation Enforcement and Compliance Division officers.
