Part of Interstate 26 near Spartanburg, South Carolina was closed for much of the day Tuesday, July 1, when a tractor-trailer loaded with chicken carcasses overturned, spilling its load across the highway.

The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on I-26 near mile marker 26, and kept the westbound lanes closed as cleanup was undertaken.

Authorities say the driver fell asleep and the truck struck a cable barrier on the side of the highway. The driver was ticketed for speeding. They were uninjured in the crash.

Spartanburg is located about 35 northeast of Greenville.
