UPDATE: Searchers have located the bobtail truck that crashed off the Delaware Memorial Bride this morning, but have yet to find its driver.

Rescuers found the trucksubmerged under 20 feet of water.

Officials said crews were assessing the safety of the area before investigating further.

Here's our earlier story from this morning:

Search efforts continue for the driver of a bobtail truck that crashed through a barrier and fell off the Delaware Memorial Bridge and into the Delaware River early this morning, July 11..

The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), which oversees the dual-span suspension bridge between Delaware and New Jersey, today said the crash occurred at about 3:40 a.m. The truck was southbound into Delaware when it crossed three lanes of traffic, crashed through a concrete wall and fell in to the river, according to the DRBA.

The authority said no other vehicles were involved.

The DRBA said area search and rescue units are on the scene, including dive teams from New Castle County Emergency Management, State of Delaware Special Operations Dive Team, Delaware State Police Marine Unit/Dive Team, Wilmington Police, Holloway Terrace and Minquadale Fire Companies, state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Wilmington Fire Marine Unit, and U.S. Coast Guard air and marine units.

The 440-foot tall toll bridge carries about 100,000 vehicles a day on eight lanes of Interstate 295 and U.S. 40 over the river.
