A truck driver faces numerous charges after a truck was recovered from the ocean off Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.
Law enforcement officials say the truck was recovered from 14 feet of water last week near the community's Osceola Avenue boat landing.
The Sullivan’s Island Police Department said it received a call from a trucking company saying one of their drivers was missing. The trucking company's tracking software pinpointed the vehicle near the boat landing.
Officers had detained a man near the Fort Moultrie visitors center on Wednesday morning, July 30. He was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
The as yet unidentified man was linked to the truck that was recovered and now faces charges of indecent exposure, dumping litter in excess of 500 pounds on private or public property, and malicious injury to personal property valued at $10,000 or more.
Sullivan’s Island PD worked with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol to locate the submerged vehicle.
No injuries were reported and police continue their investigation.
