Four men were arrested earlier this month in connection with a credit card skimming operation that allowed the to steal diesel fuel from a California truck stop.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to reports of fraudulent credit card use to steal diesel fule at a truck stop on Lagoon Drive off Interstate 5 in Bakersfield.
A report by the sheriff's department said deputies identified four suspects, who are said to have used three trucks in the theft of thousands of gallons of diesel fuel. The suspects used several vessels, including fuel tanks and five-gallon water bottles loaded in the bed of two pickup trucks, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputies located two of the vehicles at a nearby hotel and arrested 42-year-old Yasel Yedra Rodriguez of Houston, and 42-year-old Yoagner Torres Rodriguez Las Vegas, Nevada, on charges of fraud, grand theft and conspiracy. Upon the execution of a search warrant, deputies located computers and electronic equipment commonly used in credit card skimming, according to the sheriff's department.
On Nov. 7, deputies located the third vehicle involved and arrested 37-year-old Rolando Martin Santos, and 34-year-old Aneysi Afonso Amuedo,, both of Houston. Both suspects were arrested for the diesel theft and found in possession of electronic equipment used for card skimming.
All four suspects were booked into the Lerdo Jail for fraudulent credit card use, alteration of credit card account information, grand theft of property and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to the sheriff's department.
