If you drive in or through Wisconsin, the state's department of transportation wants your thoughts on the issue of access to truck parking.
WisDOT said it is conducting a comprehensive study of truck parking needs in the state. This study reflects growing national and state concerns over lack of legal parking options, which can lead to unsafe truck parking situations, according to the department.
Critical to the study is a set of stakeholder surveys for drivers, trucking companies, and truck stop operators that, when combined, will help identify where truck parking is most needed and what factors are most important when drivers look for parking.
In addition to these surveys, the study will use large datasets to identify locations where trucks are currently parking, WisDOT said. Results from these efforts will help inform WisDOT to identify locations with the greatest needs for additional parking.
Truckers and others in the motor carrier sector can take the Truck Parking Survey, which will be open until Jan. 19.
