Georgia is seeking public comment on two proposed projects to increase ytruck parking along Interstate 75.
The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to spend $7 million to add 59 new truck parking spaces at two location in Monroe County.
The two proposed projects include:
- Monroe County Weigh Station (Northbound): Adds 23 spaces with a $4 million budget; construction is to start in the fall
- Rest Area 22 (Southbound): Adds 36 spaces with a $2 million budget; construction is planned to start in early summer 2027.
GDOT said each project is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
The proposal remains open for public comment through August 15.
