Sparks flying from under a trailer prompted am Arizona Highway Patrol trooper to stop a tractor-trailer recently.

On Sept. 18, a trooper with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit stopped a commercial vehicle on AZ-202 near McClintock Drive. The truck had a blown tire, which was causing a large number of sparks, and the driver was unaware.

Upon inspection, the trailer had several tires in, what troopers in a social media post said were, "horrifically unsafe conditions." The tires were either bald or worn down to shredded interior components.

In addition, the driver’s CDL was not valid. Both the vehicle and driver were placed out of service.

In a social media post, the troopers said, "Notice to all drivers of any vehicle  - CHECK YOUR TIRES. Bald tires can cause blowouts which can lead to more damage and collisions. Make sure your tires have enough tread and help keep yourself - and everyone else on the road - safe!"
