Ruan names driver & terminal of the year

Ruan Transportation Management Systems named its driver and terminal of the year recently.

The Des Moines fleet chose Casey Jordan from a pool of more than 4,400 drivers and its Austin, Texas installation, led in 2015 by Manager William Burns, was named the company’s 2015 terminal of the year.

Jordan operates out of Ruan’s Phoenix terminal and has been with the company since 1996, logging more than 3.3 million miles during his 33 years as a driver.

Ruan began the search for its eighth driver of the year when 181 drivers were named regional finalists based on length of service, safety performance, driving records and customer service. Vice presidents of operations narrowed the field further to 13 regional winners, who traveled to Des Moines for the awards ceremony.

“Each of you is an outstanding performer,” said Ruan CEO Ben McLean at the award ceremony. “You consistently exceed our safety and service standards to meet the needs of our customers. This recognition is our way of honoring your dedication, professionalism and ongoing commitment to Ruan.”

Each regional winner was awarded a trophy and cash prize.

Ruan’s Austin terminal, which serves Whole Foods Markets, was selected based on its dedication to the company’s guiding principles of safety, putting people first, customer satisfaction, exceptional performance and continuous improvement. The terminal was also recognized as a 2014 terminal of the year region winner.

“All of the 10 terminals nominated demonstrate the quality and operational excellence we aspire to have across our company,” McLean said at the award ceremony.

The 2015 Terminal of the Year received a trophy, awards for all winning terminal team members and a celebration at the terminal later this summer.
